We need to know what's happening around the world so we're not so focused on just ourselves. We do not want to be ignorant to what is happening around us. Also, things around the world can affect us just as easy as it is affecting where it is happening.
What problems are in other parts of the world now could be a problem that we could have sometime. If we pay attention to them we would know the easiest, best, and fastest way to fix the problem.

Problems they have may become problems we have. We also need to make sure nobody needs to be sent to help a situation, or send someone when it's not necessary. Anything that is happening throughout the world could easily come our way.
I think it is important to pay attention because if something is happening in Europe, it could happen to us in the long run. We kind of need to know whether anything is going on that could effect us.
It is good to know what is happening in other countries because without that connection with foreign places, we would be clueless. Like what happened with the gas prices, it wasn't our country that is control of that. We depend greatly on other places other than ourselves.
