  1. I think it is the Cruise boat wreck because alot of families around the world are missing family members. And also I think that this mishap will change how cruise ships are direction and what happens in case of an accident.

  2. I think the most significant story so far is the cruise ship wrecking off the coast of Italy. There are 11 dead so far, and 22 still missing. I can't imagine how the families of these people feel. If someone in my family was lost some where in the wreckage, I would be wondering if they were dead or stuck somewhere freezing, hungry, and scared. I think this story is one of the emotional ones we have had so far, so it is a bigger story.

  3. I think the most significant world news since 2012 is the ship wreck and that the head crew driving the ship was the one that abandoned the ship and many people died.

  4. I think the most significant world news story this year is the Costa Concordia passanger ship wreck. 11 people died and 22 are still missing. They are starting to pump the 500,000 gallons of gas that are in it. I think it is because it has been on the news everyday sence it wrecked.

  5. I think the most significant word news so far in 2012 is the ship wreck because their are people daed and missing and a sanctuary for dolphins is at risk of becoming extinct because of other things like this.

  6. I think the most significant world news story this year is also the tragic boat crash of the Costa Concordia because there are so many people talking about it and because there were so many people affected by the crash.

  7. I personally think that the biggest thing that happened since 2012 would have to be the S.O.P.A act that was supposed to be up for debate yesterday but it was veto'd by President Obama last night. The bill is up for voting again on the 24th.

  8. I think the most significant event is the Iowa caucus. It decides who will run in other states. Which will ultimately decide who will run for president.

  9. I think the most significant even of 2012 is the boat crash. With 11 people dead and 24 still missing. If the hold for gas and other harmful things gets punctured it will hard the dolphins, and will make a huge mess. Not to mention that the dolphins are already endangered.

  10. The one that i liked to read about is the one story about the boat crush. Where the minnesota couple are not been able to be found yet. And That the couples friends are going to have a prayer service for them. People are praying for them

  11. I think the most significant event of 2012 was the Costa Concordia ship wreck. There are 11 people dead and 20 some people still missing. The captain Francesco Shettino left the ship when passengers were still on it and he is now on house arrest. If the gas tank in the ship gets damages in some way all the gas could go into the ocean and be very harmful to fish and be a big mess.

  12. I think the most significant even that has happened since 2012 is the ship wreck. The ship is four times the size of the Titanic ship. I can't believe that the captain left the boat and is taking all the risks of getting in trouble. There has been 11 people found dead so far. I can't imagine what the families are going through right now! The ship wrecked in a place where there is many dolphins, and if the gasoline from the ship gets into the ocean, it could kill those dolphins. That wouldn't be good at all since they are becoming extinct.

  13. I think the most significant event that has happened this year is that president Obama rejected the keystone XL pipeline. This project was estimated to produce thousand's of jobs for americans. The reason behind Obama rejecting the keystone xl pipeline is because he didn't want to put the health and safety of americans and the environment at risk. Many believe that Obama made a mistake by rejecting the keystone xl pipeline while others agree with him.

  14. I think the the biggest thing that happened this year is the XL Pipeline. It was suppose to get us more oil and create 3,000 jobs but Obama did not pass the bill. That is making a lot of people mad because he said he was for making jobs.

  15. I think the most significant event that has happened in 2012 is President Obama and Jordans kind Abdullah talking about peace talks with Israel and Palestine, and trying to help Syria with its violence problems. Getting involved with this could get us into more trouble with other countries. President Obama's trying to help, but he could be making things worse.

  16. I think the costa concordia ship wreck was the biggest thing in 2012 so far, because 11 people died and 21 people are still missing. The ships 500,000 gallons of fuel was so close to going into the ocean and if that happend it would probably be as bad as the BP incident.

  17. I believe that the most significant story so far this year is the ship wreck, due to all of the stories around it: the ship captain abandoning ship, the people who have died, all of the people still missing, the threat to the dolphin preserve it's at, and all of the money that is being used to payback travelers, pump out the gas, and get the ship out of the area.

  18. I think that the most significant world news story since 2012 Is S.O.P.A. and other anti-piracy bills. If these are passed it will drastically change the internet all over the world. People use technology everyday for everything possible and having these bills put in place would make things difficult. it's important to see how much we rely on the internet for the simplest things, and with these bills we will no longer to be able to rely on the internet for information.

  19. I think the most significant world news story since 2012 is the cruise ship crash. Due to the fact, that the captain abandoned ship and left all the people to get there selves out. He should be charged with manslaughter because he wanted to get close to the island to show off. The violin player should be awarded as a hero because he did better then the captain. The oil is another problem because it will affect a large area of marine life.

  20. I think the most significant news story is the Costa Concordia ship wreck because the ship is worth hundreds of millions. Some people died because the captain did not follow the right course. The ship also contains a lot of fuel that can contaminate the water.

  21. I think the ship wreck, because it bring back the wreck of the titanic that is still strong in our news history today. Both wrecks are similar in the ways of loss of life, negligence of cruise behalf, and people having the fear of getting back on the ocean again. I feel this is a ship wreck we'll hear in our history years from now.

  22. I think the biggest thing that has happened this year is the Twinkie bankruptcy. Now we wont have anymore midnight snacks. I feel like they been around for ever and now they are vanishing fast. Hopefully i a couple of years they will have enough money to start it all over again everyone need a second chance.

  23. I think the most significant news story is the story about the cruise ship, because a lot of people have to fend for them self and had no clue what to do. Some people even lost there life's and all the oil cous dump into the ocean and be dangerous. I aslo think the most significant one is about the 7-year old that got murdered, because kids are getting murder and abused a lot more and nothing is being done.

  24. i think the most significant news story since the new year was the cruise ship. A lot of people lost there life and a lot of people are missing. Since the ship is sitting on a cliff they had to postpone the search for missing people. since the ship was full it carried a lot of fuel that could end up in our oceans and harm our marine life.

  25. I think that the biggest news was the ship wreck. It had many people talking about it all week. I think that this is a very sad thing that happened. I feel sorry for the families and all the people involved at this moment they still have 21 people missing.

  26. I think that the most important thing was the ship wreck because so many people are missing. Also the captain jumped off the ship when he was supposed to help others and is now facing criminal charges. And there is so many still missing and some still waiting to be compensated for all that they lost on the ship.

  27. I believe the SOPA act is the most important because of the fact it infringes on free speech over the internet and would most certainly interfere with A LOT of peoples lively hoods (e.g. website design, computer programer, ect.) The internet would never be the same if this were to be passed. There would be no wikipedia, google, Facebook, twitter ect. And many mad and irritated people.

  28. I think the biggest news story is the cruise ship wreck. Many people have died from it and the fact that the captain abandoned ship is terrible. He should have done what was right and waited until everybody was off the ship like a good captain.

  29. I think the biggest world news story of this year would be the cruise ship wreck. Many of innocent people died because of a stupid desicon by the captian who also turned out to be a coward by abandoing his ship befor his passengers

  30. i think the biggest news story would be the the ship reck on the cost of Italy. The ship recked because of the captain all of the people got hurt and died because of the captains directions.

  31. I think its the ship wreak because over 20 people have died from it and the accident was preventable, and the divers are still finding bodies. It also was a man made accident because the captain was not paying attention at what he was doing.

  32. I think the most significant source is when the ship wreck happened. When I heard that there were many people dead and some people missing I really got shocked. I also learned that shipwrecks are very dangerous and you really have to follow safety rules in order to be safe. I also want that they heard it in the news.
